Info: For 11 long years, the French Broad River Festival has successfully gathered friends who have a passion for whitewater and music to create an event that is fun, provides awareness of the French Broad River, and benefits the community. Held May 2-4,2008 on the banks of the river in beautiful Hot Springs, NC, the festival is celebrating its 11th year; the festival has donated over $36,000 to designated local charities such as American Whitewater, Manna Food Bank, and Eliada Home.Highlighting the first event was a raft race from Barnard to Hot Springs, which has been the major focus since the festival began. The race travels a scenic nine miles of Class 1-IV whitewater, finishing at the Hot Springs Campground and Spa.Situated on the banks of the French Broad River where it intersects with the Appalachian Trail, there are hundreds of campsites surrounding the 2 stages with over 20 bands. Admission to the festival is $60 at the gate, which includes camping, music, registration fees for whitewater events (if you have your own boat), and one raffle ticket. Discounted tickets are available for $45 if purchased online at www.frenchbroadriverfestival.com or www.ticketweb.com before April 20, 2008. For those without boats but who would like to participate in the race, a limited number of tickets are available for $100 ($85 prior to 4/20/08).
